Why Choose Motul Engine Oil? Why We Use Motul at Track Warrior Mods
Share
Engine oil is one of the most important parts of any performance car build, but it is also one of the easiest things to overlook.

People will spend money on intakes, downpipes, tuning and exhausts, then treat engine oil like an afterthought. That is a mistake.
At Track Warrior Mods, we use and recommend Motul because it suits the type of cars we work with: tuned BMWs, fast-road cars, track-focused builds and performance engines that need proper protection.
Why does engine oil matter so much?
Engine oil does much more than just lubricate the engine.
It helps:
- Reduce friction
- Protect internal engine components
- Manage heat
- Keep the engine clean
- Support consistent performance
- Protect the turbocharger
- Reduce wear during hard use
On a standard car, oil quality matters. On a tuned or hard-driven car, it matters even more.
Why choose Motul?
Motul has a strong reputation in motorsport, fast-road and performance car servicing. The brand offers a wide range of fully synthetic oils for different applications, from road cars to track and competition use.
For example, Motul’s 8100 range includes fully synthetic oils with manufacturer approvals such as BMW Longlife approvals on selected products, including BMW LL-01 and BMW LL-04 depending on the exact oil specification. Motul’s 300V range is their motorsport-focused line, developed around Ester Core technology for high-performance use.
That is why we like Motul. It is not just a random oil brand with a nice label. It has proper performance options depending on how the car is used.
Why we use Motul at Track Warrior Mods
We use Motul because it fits the cars and customers we deal with.
A lot of our customers drive BMW engines like the N55, B58, S55 and S58. These engines are commonly tuned, driven hard and often modified with parts like intakes, downpipes, charge pipes and ECU software.
That means oil choice becomes more important.
We want an oil brand that works for:
- Daily-driven performance cars
- Stage 1 and Stage 2 tuned BMWs
- Turbocharged engines
- Fast-road driving
- Track day use
- Cars that see higher temperatures and harder loads
Motul gives us strong options for those use cases.
Motul for tuned BMW engines
Tuned BMW engines can place extra demand on engine oil.
More boost, more heat and harder driving all increase the load on the engine. That does not mean the car is unreliable, but it does mean maintenance needs to be taken seriously.
If you are running a tuned BMW, oil is not where you should be trying to save a few pounds.
Engines like the B58, N55, S55 and S58 respond brilliantly to tuning, but they need proper servicing and the correct oil specification to stay healthy.
Motul 8100 vs Motul 300V
Motul has different oil ranges for different types of use.
Motul 8100
The Motul 8100 range is a strong choice for road cars, daily drivers and performance cars that need the correct manufacturer specification.
Selected Motul 8100 oils carry OEM approvals, including BMW Longlife approvals depending on the exact product. For example, Motul 8100 X-CESS GEN2 5W-40 lists BMW LL-01 approval, while Motul 8100 X-CLEAN GEN2 5W-40 lists BMW LL-04 approval.
This makes Motul 8100 a sensible choice for BMW owners who want a high-quality service oil matched to the correct specification.
Motul 300V
Motul 300V is the more motorsport-focused range. It is designed for high-performance and competition use, using Motul’s Ester Core technology.
For a normal daily driver, 300V may be more than you need. But for a car that is used hard, tracked, or built around performance, it can make sense depending on the setup and service intervals.
Is Motul worth it?
Yes, if you care about proper maintenance and engine protection.
Cheap oil is a false economy on a performance car. You might save a small amount on the service, but if the car is tuned, driven hard or used on track, the oil is doing a serious job.
Motul is not magic. You still need the correct grade, the correct specification and sensible service intervals. But as a brand, it gives us confidence when servicing and supporting modified BMWs.
What Motul oil should you use?
The right Motul oil depends on the car, engine, usage and manufacturer specification.
Before choosing oil, you should consider:
- Your BMW engine code
- Whether the car is standard or tuned
- How the car is used
- Road use vs track use
- Required BMW oil approval
- Correct viscosity grade
- Service interval
Do not just copy what someone else is using online. The correct oil for a daily-driven B58 may not be the same choice as a track-used S55.
Why oil choice matters more after tuning
Once a car is tuned, everything works harder.
The turbo works harder. The engine produces more heat. The car may be driven more aggressively. That means oil condition and oil quality become even more important.
This is why we recommend using quality oil and servicing tuned cars properly rather than blindly following long factory service intervals.
If your BMW is tuned, we would rather see more regular oil changes with the right oil than stretched service intervals with cheap oil.
Our honest advice
If your BMW is standard and used normally, choose the correct Motul oil that meets the required BMW approval.
If your BMW is tuned, driven hard or used on track, take oil choice and service intervals more seriously.
Do not overcomplicate it, but do not cheap out either.
Oil is basic maintenance, but on a performance car, basic maintenance is what keeps the expensive parts alive.
